Linfox Case Study

In 1956, founder Lindsay Fox started Linfox with one truck in Melbourne, Australia. More than 60 years later, the company has grown to become Asia Pacific’s largest privately-owned logistics company, employing more than 24,000 people across 12 countries. Linfox’s distinctive red and yellow vehicles are widely recognised in these countries, along with the slogan each carries: ‘You are passing another FOX’.

As a large organisation with multiple projects and millions of dollars of capital at work at any given time, Linfox sought
automation, efficiency and improved reporting from its project management office. The logistics leader brought Sensei Project Solutions on board for the delivery of its pre-configured Microsoft Project Portfolio and Work Management environment.

As a result, Linfox today enjoys unprecedented transparency, standardised approaches to project management and the ability to anticipate and solve problems before they adversely impact delivery.

The University of Melbourne Case Study

Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is ranked number 1 in Australia and is among the leading universities internationally. With 10 academic units, the University is home to more than 4,600 staff members and some 52,000 students.

When the University of Melbourne consolidated its systems in support of a shared services business model, it looked to Sensei Project Solutions for a boost to the capabilities of its Enterprise Project Management Office. Over the course of five years, Sensei has substantially enhanced the University’s project management capability by fine tuning Microsoft Project Online with the implementation of solutions including Sensei Integration Hub, Sensei Reporting Packs and Sensei Reporting Hub. Crucially, Sensei has also led the integration of Project Online with the University’s Enterprise Resource Planning solution for consolidation of financial reporting, while building a bespoke solution for human resources management (Contractor Recruitment Management Solution, “CRMS”).

As a result, the University today enjoys a highly capable EPMO which supports a standardised approach to project delivery with transparent and accurate information available at all times.

Aurecon Case Study

Aurecon, a global engineering and advisory consulting firm has a client-centric business model that gives them the agility to deliver a full range of services globally. With multi-disciplinary major projects being delivered across the globe, Aurecon’s aim is to empower its team to connect across economies, businesses and communities. However with hundreds of projects underway across the globe, with a myriad of tools at play, the time taken to gain a view of project delivery performance was inefficient. It was also challenging to know which projects were going well, and which might need additional attention or resources in order to deliver on time and within budget. Aurecon chose to implement a pilot of Sensei’s Jumpstart Project Portfolio Management (PPM) solution (predecessor to Empower PPM). And after an initial pilot proved Jumpstart’s potential for transforming the way project leaders work, the solution rolled out to some 450 users in regions including Africa, the Middle East and Australasia. By improving a fundamental aspect of its business – project management – Aurecon is transforming how it does business today in order to compete tomorrow. Aurecon has now boosted its ability to track, analyse and amend-on-the-go its various projects across the globe.

Swinburne Uni Case Study

Swinburne University of Technology is an Australian public university based in Melbourne, Victoria and it has a student roll of more than 23,000. The IT department serving Swinburne runs multiple projects in its efforts to provide employees and students with the services required for their daily activities, those projects range from large implementations down to smaller initiatives. Project data was difficult to get hold of, it was hard to see where any given project was. With a constant portfolio of multiple projects running at any given time, the distinct lack of coordination and efficiency demanded a better way if Swinburne was to be sure of getting the best results from every initiative.

Backed by the support of Sensei Project Solutions (Sensei), Melbourne’s Swinburne University of Technology has introduced a structured way of handling its projects in the information technology department using Microsoft Project Online. Over the course of five years, Swinburne has matured its project management capability, so it achieves optimal results across multiple concurrent initiatives and has more recently introduced Sensei’s Reporting Hub for greater insights and control across all projects.

Fujitsu Case Study

Fujitsu is the world’s fifth-largest IT services provider. The Oceania division of Fujitsu, a $4.7 trillion yen (US$41 billion) company wanted to consolidate several multi-national groups using various systems including CA Clarity and Excel, move everything to the cloud, and integrate with SAP — all in a few months because their Clarity licenses were soon up for renewal. Fujitsu’s immediate challenge was threefold; decommissioning two on premise legacy systems; Australia’s CA PPM Clarity version 13.3 that was long out of support and New Zealand’s Project Server 2010 and freeing its people and data from ‘Excel Hell’.

The company decided to unify their systems, teams and regions with Sensei’s Jumpstart Project Portfolio Management (PPM) solution (predecessor to Empower PPM). The integration with SAP would be accomplished with the Sensei Integration Hub™. Hosted in Microsoft Azure, it would allow Fujitsu to move data in and out of Microsoft PPM for integration with SAP so they automatically sync and continuously communicate with one another in real-time. This case study delves into the challenges Fujitsu faced, why they made the switch to Microsoft PPM and the instant benefits they experienced as a result.
