Why Join Sensei?

We’re super proud to be officially certified as a Great Place To Work

At Sensei, we work every day to refine our approach and improve the working world of those around us. Since we began in 2009, we have focused on bringing world leading project and portfolio management solutions to our clients to help improve the way they work and enable them to reach their strategic goals.

We do this by putting people first – with our clients, with our partners, and at Sensei. We encourage our people to be curious and to continuously learn and grow – thriving on challenges, solving problems both simple and complex, to create the best possible solutions to meet our clients’ needs and to advance our industry. Our subject matter expertise, technical know-how and leadership within the Microsoft productivity landscape, has seen Sensei build the largest team of experts across the APAC region, so you can access a depth of experience to achieve the outcomes you require.

How we create these outcomes is as important as what we create, and the Sensei spirit is energetic and welcoming with a distinctive flair about it! We have fun, share our stories, celebrate our successes and most importantly, have each other’s backs – and we have yours, too. As an employee, you become part of the extended Sensei family. We are really proud of our people, our clients, and what we are building at Sensei.

Role Overview:

You’ll be joining a tight-knit team, spread mainly between Melbourne and Adelaide, and we expect you to dive in, feet first, and own the execution elements for our Product Development team. The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate the delivery of features into our product through efficient and effective Agile processes and team management. As an experienced Scrum Master / Agile Coach you will bring with you both passion and experience in Software Development and Team Management, a love for Agile Continuous Flow methodology, excellent problem-solving skills, organisational and time management skills, and exceptional communication skills. You will have one eye on your own personal effectiveness and productivity, while also seeking out appropriate professional development opportunities for your team.

The ideal candidate will be an Agile expert, experienced in developing high quality solutions, with a proven understanding in software development practices. Experience with Microsoft development and platforms would be advantageous (but not necessary), particularly around the Power Platform, SharePoint, Project Server/Online, Office 365 and Dynamics 365.  It requires a well-rounded professional with a focus on producing high quality software, excellent communication skills, a love for enabling developers to produce their best work, continuous improvement through retrospectives and reviews, and getting the most out of every development cycle.

What your day may include:

  • Reporting into the Product Director, ensure work is prioritised according to strategic objectives and managed through to production to meet stakeholder goals.
  • Running efficient and effective Agile ceremonies, planning and managing the sprints, monitoring velocity, and tracking success metrics.
  • Removing internal and external barriers from the software development team’s path.
  • Running an efficient and effective DevOps Team capable of consistent throughput and delivery of features.
  • Facilitating change and continuous improvement to processes.
  • Encouraging and facilitating the professional development of team members.

Sound interesting? Here’s the key skills set you’ll need to qualify:

  • 3 or more years’ experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience applying Agile methodology, principles, practices, and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and supporting teams to adopt new practices.
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of software development processes and procedures.
  • You don’t dogmatically follow a theoretical process; instead, you are adaptable and flexible, and have a people focused approach.
  • You are familiar with Agile reporting and can use burndown charts and other planning tools to measure and report on cadence and performance.
  • You will be able to build and maintain effective and constructive relationships with your team and internal stakeholders.
  • A solid understanding and appreciation of technical engineering best practices (test driven development, continuous integration, scalability, security, DevOps, etc.).
  • You’ll value design based on iteration, and real customer feedback.
  • You’ll be able to maximize flow for developers, optimising the team for high performance.
  • You’ll have a proven track record of taking ownership of problems and being accountable.
  • You are able to leverage the existing subject matter expertise within the team to validate and inform the development approach.
  • You have strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple, competing demands.

Other Valuable Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • An understanding of project management principles to be able to understand the language our clients use would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Having solid quiz skills will be viewed as favourable. Our quiz team wants more members!

Interested in applying? Here’s what we value:

  • You have endless amounts of enthusiasm and energy. Perhaps not endless, but a healthy amount at least.
  • You genuinely want to make a difference to the way our clients work, and you have a positive outlook on life.
  • You’re not afraid of hard work. Curly challenges. Sometimes inconvenient hours.
  • Perhaps you attend (or run) local user groups. In any case, you’re curious about how things work. You don’t pretend to know everything – and as a result, you are constantly learning.
  • People trust you. When you are handed a problem, they feel confident that you will resolve it.
  • You’re comfortable with change.
  • During your interview, you’ll be able to tell us the capital city of Bolivia 🙂
  • You’re going to write an amazing cover letter for this role 🙂
